Clay Cross Active

Clay Cross Active opened its doors on 18th June 2025!

Our Parish and District Councillor, Kathy Rouse, is Cabinet Member for Leisure & Health and as such has been involved in this project throughout. Members of the Parish Council have long campaigned for Clay Cross to have a new leisure centre and are very proud to see this now come to fruition. Our Administrative Assistant was honoured to be given a pre-opening tour and confirmed, although there are a few bits still to finish off before the opening, it all looks fantastic!

Not just a leisure centre! There are a huge range of facilities and services on site including two pools, a gym, wellness suite, spin bike room and large sports hall, as well as a 'TAG Active' arena (ages 8 to adult) and a Pirate soft-play for ages 4-11 (height restrictions apply).

The toilets and changing facilities are clean, bright, spacious and accessible for all. The centre subtly incorporates access slopes throughout the ground floor, lifts to upper floors, a wellness suite for accessible and rehabilitation exercise, pool accessibility equipment and a full 'Changing Places' facility with hoist and changing bed.

The centre also boasts a brand new on-site coffee shop and café with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and an outdoor play area, which can be accessed not just by leisure centre users, but also by all users of Sharley Park.

In addition to the leisure facilities there is also dedicated space for a Midwifery suite, NHS outreach clinic space, Citizen's Advice, and private meeting room available to hire. A 3G all weather football pitch will also be installed, although this is now set to be completed at a later date (more news on this as we receive updates).
